Course Description

This introductory course will analyze how electronic media technology is used to inform, entertain, educate, promote, and sell. Course will utilize feature and documentary films, along with news and public affairs video clips to emphasize the following topics: terrestrial and satellite radio; broadcast, cable, and satellite television; media economics, ethics, distribution, and regulation; news media operations; old and new media synergies.

Evaluation

A combination of twelve (12) quizzes/projects will be assigned with the highest ten (10) grades applied to your final grade (each is worth 10 points.) No make-ups for missed project deadlines or quizzes. Deadline for assignments is Noon on the day of class. There is no final exam for this course. Students may check progress using Blackboard

89-87 B+
86-83 B
82-80 B-
79-77 C+
76-73 C
72-70 C-
69-67 D+
66-63 D
62-60 D-
Below 60 is failing grade
